Maths competition success

A perfect CAT for Emily Husper!

Earlier in the year, there was a Computational and Algorithmic Thinking maths competition run by the Australian Maths Trust. Students in Year 7 were invited to participate, with all ACE Class students competing, as well as those who chose to self-nominate. It is a one-hour online problem solving competition that encourages students to solve real-world problems and develop informal algorithms and apply them to test data. The competition does not need any programming ability, but helps identify students’ computer programming potential.

One of our very own Year 7 students from 7E, Emily Husper, has shown an exceptional flair for the challenge material, scoring an unbelievable perfect score. This meant Emily was classified as being in the top “0%” of the national competition cohort, effectively putting her as one of, if not the only, participants to earn this amazing achievement.

We are so proud of Emily and her exceptional result. She has shown the NHS values of Curiosity and Achievement, and clearly has a rich Mathematical path ahead of her. Well done, Emily!
