Premier’s Reading Challenge

The benefits of reading are many and well known. Like all important things in life, reading requires practice. As young people practice their reading, they get better at it, and it usually becomes more enjoyable. Students should not just be reading at school, but at home as well. To encourage students at NHS to read more we challenged Year Sevens and Eights to participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge. The great thing about the challenge is that students can choose what they read, with the aim of making reading more enjoyable. The challenge has now closed – although that doesn’t mean student should stop reading widely!

We’d like to thank the families that engaged with the challenge and sincerely congratulate the following students who succeeded in reading fifteen books during terms two and three:

Grace Hunter-Meaklim

Minerva Ender

Finley Kings-Lyons

Gabriel Stamp

Gabriel Carter

Astrid Curry

Olive Steel

Hal Christensen

Amalia Loveday

Harvey Jones

Stig Gustafsson

Humphrey Miller

Aoife Harper

Benjamin Scharpenack

Toby Drew

Anton Alviano

Lani Alexander

Kashika Shri Sivakumar

There were also many other students who read quite a number of books. Indeed nearly 800 books were read by the cohort. Well done to all and keep reading!
