Wheelchair basketball

Learning about inclusion and accessibility in sport

Over the last couple of weeks, year 8 students were visited by Basketball Victoria to run a wheelchair basketball program. Students were taught how to steer and manoeuvre a wheelchair safely and effectively. Students then ran through a variety of fun drills to practice their wheelchair skills. Towards the end of the incursion, students got to play a rather competitive game of wheelchair basketball, demonstrating a sense of teamwork and determination as calls and cheers echoed throughout the gym. Whether on feet or on wheels, the competitive nature of basketball remains the same.
