Super Summit - University High School

Super Summit - University High School

Last Friday, students from the University High School’s student representative council invited students from Northcote High School to attend an event called the Super Summit. Charlie, Tui, T and I represented our school. At the Super Summit, students from schools in the local area discussed issues relevant to young people, and how schools are responding to and educating us about these issues.

The issues discussed were:

  • Environmental Education and Action
  • Community and Inclusivity
  • Health, Wellbeing, and Consent Education.

I was working with the environmental education and action group. We discussed ways our respective schools are currently addressing this issue and ways it could be better dealt with in the future. At the end of the day, we wrote a report to take back to our schools to help make a difference on these issues within our community in the future.

It was great to have the opportunity to meet and work with other students from schools around Melbourne area. Whilst we had some commonality on the issues that faced our school communities, we had different ideas around ways to tackle these issues. Being able to bounce ideas around in groups was useful and motivated me and the other NHS students who joined me on the ways we could improve NHS.
