Athletics Carnival

All the fun from the Coburg Track

On Friday 8 March, Northcote High School students gathered at the Coburg athletics track for the second annual whole school athletics day. Hundreds of students flocked through the gates, proudly dressed in their house colours. The day hosted students of all ages, from Year 7s, experiencing the day for the first time, to the groups of Year 12s determined to make the most of their last aths carnival. Everyone made sure to get out and have a go, whether it be on the track, in the field or the beloved novelty events, there was an option for all.

The day held several highlights, including, the hilarious falls seen throughout the sack races, the 1500m walk which saw almost everyone out on the track participating, and of course the year 12 vs Teacher relays. This year, the students once again took out the teachers, claiming the top 2 spots, it was an extremely tight race, with the distinguishing factor a pair of shoes, or lack thereof.

As always, these days that we all enjoy so much, would not be possible without the effort put in by the sports faculty, all staff, sports captains, and all the other helpers. So, a big thank you to everyone involved in helping ensure the day ran smoothly.

Acacia Schipper, Sports Captain, Year 12

A big shout out to Acacia and all of our sports captains and peer support students for their help through the day. Also to our student photographers, Jess Scally, Sid Whittle, Grace Bull, Asher Oakley, Charlize Belli and Max Harvey Calatayud, who did a great job capturing the atmosphere. These days cannot run without our wonderful school community of students and staff and it was a fabulous team effort.
