Year 8 Assembly

Celebrating excellence and endeavour

Year 8 Term 4 Assembly was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate those hardworking students who had received subject awards in both Excellence and Endeavour. The students gave a hefty round of applause to celebrate these students. Sonny Little, one of the Year 8 Captains did an excellent job at running the assembly and made an amazing MC.

Oscar Pelham treated us to an amazing performance playing magnificently on the keyboard, which kept the audience engaged and entertained. The Assembly had a major focus on upcoming Mental Health Week and the Connect schedule for the remainder of the year. NHS IT squad also talked about using social media and the internet for positive experiences and explored with the students how to best do this.

Connect Classes sent up a volunteer for each class for a do or die Spelling Bee in which they had one chance to spell a challenge word to gain points for their Connect Class in the ongoing Year 8 Connect Class Competition. Well done to 8I and 8J who managed to spell "reconciliation" and "reconnaissance" correctly in front of over 200 students!

Thanks Year 8 for your exemplary behavior during the assembly.

~Kurt Strachan, Year 8 Program Leader
