VCE Politics Incursion

Insights into the Russian invasion of Ukraine

On Thursday morning, the Year 11 and 12 Politics classes were lucky enough to have Dr Daniel Bray from La Trobe University come in and speak to us about Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Dr Bray is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at La Trobe and it was really beneficial for us to be able to listen to his presentation and draw on his experience to ask questions and get engaged.

He spoke to us about the causes of the conflict, actions of relevant global actors, the role of the UN in responding to the conflict, and challenges to resolving the crisis (and more!). It was a great opportunity for both the Year 11 and 12 classes to link a major current crisis to the concepts that we've been learning throughout the year and to see how what we've learnt is applicable to the wider world of global politics.

Many thanks to Dr Bray for taking the time to come and speak to us!
