Current Year 9 : Work Experience 2024 has been launched

The Work Experience Program at NHS will look a little different next year, following a detailed review in 2023. Since COVID the way people work has fundamentally changed. More staff are working from home, businesses are struggling to remain fully staffed and some sectors such as health have had to cease or reduce work experience programs. This has made the past couple of years very challenging for all of our Year 10 students to find a meaningful placement within one allocated week.

From 2024, Year 10 students can still do up to 5 days of Work Experience during the year. The weeks of availability have been spread out across the year, and students will opt-in to the program once they find a suitable placement. Students can do a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 5 days in the school terms (within allocated weeks). A calendar of available dates has been set up, so students can commence their search for work experience from now.

All instructions and documents are now available to students via Teams (Year 9/Careers Channel/Files). Parents can access the documents via Compass (School Documentation/Careers/Work Experience).

On Tuesday we presented during assembly to introduce the program. Students will also be preparing for work experience in Connect in Term 1 2024. In the meantime, we encourage students to start the process of securing a placement for next year.
