Changes in 2024

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the structure of the day for 2024. Obviously as with any large community there were a range of differing opinions on the programs that run in the school and how they should run. Thanks to one student who wrote about how they could see this having a significant improvement on their experience at school! 

One of the key messages in the feedback was that the late finish on Tuesday and Thursday disrupted work, sport and family commitments. A range of options highlighted in the feedback were discussed in different forums, including our school council and school committees. As highlighted by some responses, there are opportunities to shorten the day by having a shorter lunch. However, with lunch activities and an opportunity for feedback from staff being lost in that scenario,  it has been decided to start the day 5 minutes earlier and have shorter period lengths on the days that have Connect. With feedback that Friday would be a better day for a later finish, one of the Connect sessions has moved to Friday. 

Thanks again for the feedback from students, staff and families in different formats, to find the best-fit solution to adding in the additional time required by the Department and the updated Connect and Enrichment curriculum. 

Thanks to Kerren Diamond and Pete Sirec for running a workshop with our students about what they would like to see in our Enrichments program and how it incorporates further student choice and agency in our school program. It was great to see how many of the programs proposed by staff matched the requests from our students. Our staff have been developing the curriculum outlines for their implementation next year and we will be asking our students for their elective options shortly.
