A message from the Principal

Welcome back to term 2

Welcome back to term 2. It has been lovely to reconnect as a school community this week and to hear about how staff members and families spent the Easter break. We are looking forward to an action-packed term and are excited about the many great things that are coming up.

Whilst it feels like we have only just started 2024 and our attentions are fully on the amazing learning and connections happening at our school every day, the start of Term 2 does see the start of the transition process for 2025 for Foundation and Year 7.

Enrolments for Foundation for 2025 are now open and we encourage any families with children starting school next year to contact the school office to collect the correct forms. these can also be downloaded from https://www.skipps.vic.edu.au/community/enrolments/

As with last year, there is a statewide transition timeline which means that all Foundation applications must be submitted to the school by Friday 26th July in order to be guaranteed a place. We will notify families of the outcome of enrolment applications by Friday 9 August 2024.

We appreciate any families with younger siblings submitting their forms as soon as possible. This allows us to understand likely numbers for next year and so start to plan ahead for staff, class sizes, and our ability to offer places to families living outside our enrolment zone.

We are currently running regular school tours for prospective 2025 families. If you know of any relatives, friends or neighbours with a child starting school next year then please encourage them to book a tour at  https://compasstix.com/e/0rhar1rt70 to learn more about SKiPPS.

At the same time, paperwork was sent home this week to all of our Year 6 students for them to apply for a Year 7 place at secondary school next year.

Later in the newsletter we share details of the open days currently being offered by our local government secondary schools and we strongly encourage families to explore the amazing things that Albert Park College, Elwood College and Prahran High School have to offer.

Year 6 parents are asked to ensure that their 'Application for Year 7 Placement 2025 form' is completed and returned to their class teacher by Friday 10 May 2024.  Families will then receive confirmation of their child's Year 7 placement by Friday 15th July.

We ask that all families return this form, even if their child will be attending a non-government school in 2025.

As always, we are happy to support families with this process. Please reach out to your child's class teacher or directly to myself if you have any questions.
