INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Congratulations

LHS celebrated our first community gig at the Celebrate Mooroolbark Festival on Sunday 20 March, with Year 10 students Jett James and Noah Vincent entertaining the crowds on guitar. Congratulations boys, it was fabulous to be back out, sharing the talents of our wonderful students.

Band News

The LHS Band has begun rehearsing and preparing for their first performance of the year at the school 'OPEN NIGHT' on, Thursday 28 April. We look forward to hearing the beginnings of your 2022 repertoire.

Funk Band rehearsals with Miss Cumming will resume over the coming weeks and Rookie Band, with Mrs Ventura starts up next term. Keep an eye on Compass for rehearsal dates!

Workshop/Jam Session

We are currently in the planning stages to run an after-school workshop/jam session for our Senior Music students, which will be run by Emma Jury, our piano teacher and her jazz group, Poet Street. This will be a great opportunity for our more advanced students to extend their technique.

Families and the school community will be invited to a 30-minute gig at the conclusion of the workshop.

Thank You

Thank you to Miss Damen for teaching flute these past few weeks in Miss Wells’ absence. We appreciate you stepping in and keeping the students on track with their playing, particularly our new Year 7s.

Thanks also to Miss Cumming for her work with LHS Band.

2022 Victorian State Schools Spectacular

Congratulations to Erin Allison (Year 11), who is part of the orchestra (Oboist) for the Victorian State Schools Spectacular to be held in September.  The orchestra is made up of 80 students.

The Spectacular celebrates the enormous talent that exists in Victorian government schools, bringing together students in a musical extravaganza.

Year 10 Music Performance

At the beginning of  March, students started working on their first 'Solo Performance' for 2022.

Working on pieces they once started learning and felt never finished, or on goal pieces they’ve always wanted to perform on stage!

The students will perform their Solo Performance for assessment at the end of this term.
