PARENT INFORMATION

Compass

The Compass platform is our means of communication.  Students need to check the Compass News Feed every morning and keep a close eye on their timetables for special events.

We also ask that parents and carers check Compass regularly for important information and updates relating to your son/daughter.

Compass is accessible via the internet and the Compass School Manager App (download via the App store on your device).

Parent Payments 2024

The parent payment determined by School Council each year provides the vital funds necessary for Lilydale High School to continue to provide excellent facilities, and sufficient teaching and curriculum resources to ensure a high quality education for all students.

A significant proportion of the school’s cash budget is made up of parent contributions.

While every effort is made to keep these fees as low as possible, the school needs your assistance to continue to provide the excellent educational programs and the successful outcomes for students that have become the hallmark of Lilydale High School.

Student Absent

'SMS LINK'

When your child is marked ABSENT from school without parent approvalbefore 10.45am, you will receive an SMS message containing an attendance link.

Please follow the link to explain your child's absence from school, which will update the unexplained absence on Compass.

School Is Better When You’re Here!

We encourage every student, when they are well, to come to school every day so as to maximise their learning outcomes and to support their success now and beyond school.

Evidence suggests students who attend school more often achieve greater academic achievement and increased post school opportunities.

Every day of absence makes a difference. The effect of one day of absence, while relatively small, adds up quickly as more and more days are missed. The effect of missing days accumulates over time – school absence not only impacts achievement in the year in which the days are missed, but in future years as well.

We do appreciate there are times where absence is necessary, and we certainly do not want students attending school when they are ill.

If it is expected that your son/daughter will be away for more than two days (illness, holiday, medical appointments etc), please communicate this information with the relevant Sub School Office.

We also ask that you are regularly checking your Compass Parent Portal and approving unexplained absences. A medical certificate should also be provided for extended illnesses.

Below are some factsheets and legislation around students attendance in Victoria.

Lockers

As a number of valuable items (Chromebooks, mobile phones, wallets etc) are stored in students' lockers throughout the day, it is imperative that all students padlock their locker to ensure items do not go missing.

Locks can be purchased from the School Office for $10.00

Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)

The CSEF is an annual payment ($250) to the school to be used towards camps, sports and/or excursion costs for eligible students.

The CSEF program for 2023 closes on Monday 15 April.

Insurance / Ambulance Cover

The Department of Education does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students.

Parents and carers of students who do not have student accident insurance or ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport as well as any other transport costs. It is the responsibility of parents or guardians to look into their preferred options in this regard.

Parents and carers can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers. The Department cannot provide on the purchase of individual student accident policy or ambulance cover.

Private property brought to school by students, staff or visitors is not insured and the Department does not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage.  This can include mobile phones, calculators, toys, sporting equipment and cars parked on school premises.

As the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property, students and staff are discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school.

Car Park - Melba Ave

For safety, students are not to be dropped off in the Melba Avenue (Staff) car park.  This a parking facility only.

The STADIUM car park is designated for student drop off and collection before and after school.

We also ask that parents do not block the driveways of businesses in William Street and Melba Ave.

To keep up to date with news and events at school, we encourage all parents and carers to follow the Lilydale High School 'OFFICIAL' Facebook page.
