Intermediate state Cricket finals

Last Thursday the Year 10 girls drove to Bendigo for state cricket finals after a promising win at regionals. The girls fielded first in the heat and beaming sun for 20 overs and conceded 136 runs. Emily and Indi both took huge catches to get two wickets and Jade and Jada both bowled and took a wicket each. Switching over to batting, the girls ended up making 97 runs after a huge effort. 67 of those runs being from Indi who stayed batting through all 20 overs. Overall despite losing it was a successful day with an incredible effort from the team and a sunny day out to Bendigo.

Year 8 Boys Cricket Regional Final

Congratulations to our Yr 8 Boys Cricket team who recently competed in the Regional Final against Hazel Glen. Our boys batted first our top scorers were Harry Marr on 33 and Tom on 24 with an overall team score of 70.   Hazel Glen were were too strong chasing down our runs to finish on 75. A great game all round, one of which the boys should be very proud!

Year 8 Futsal

Last Friday a handful of talented year 8 futsal players participated in interschool sports at Narrandjeri Stadium and Darebin Community Sports Stadium, the ideal sporting destination for the Darebin community to get physically active, meet new people and have fun in 2023. Main stars of the day include Georgia Barlow, Matilda Chalker, Bhumi Rana, James Tabakis, Isaac Bawden, Ben Hodkinson, Hudson De Boni, Paul Sweetman and last but definitely not least Sel Mehmedi, personally I think he shined the most and played his heart out on the courts that day.

The girl’s ‘A’ team didn’t quite get the ending they would’ve hoped for but the ‘B’ team pulled through with Lila Kooloos smashing 10 goals. Everyone tried their hardest and really deserves to be proud of their achievements.  Mr Boyce and Mr G definitely deserve a pat on the back for being the best coach and supporters on the day.

Hello people I’m here to speak about the boys who played in the year 8 futsal team. There were some outstanding performances from the players. The A team made it to the final and lost on a penalty shootout against Preston High School. The  most valuable player (MVP) was Paul Sweetman with his perfect performance in keeper.

The boys' B team had their first match against Preston which we drew 2-2. We then had an hour break before our next match which we won 6-0. We then had another 1 hour break before out final match, which we unfortunately had to play a man down, but still drew 1-1.

It was a very fun time, the coaches were also very handy and did well to get us where we were. Thanks to Mr Ghafari and Mr Boyce. From yours truly Paul Sweetman.

Year 7 Futsal

The year 7 boys had a great day out at futsal. They were extremely competitive throughout the day and both the boys' teams had great success. Goals were flying through with our attackers doing a great job and our defenders being rock solid at the back.

The girls were also fantastic with one of the girls' teams winning the final and the other team scoring goals left, right and centre. The girls showed great teamwork and team spirit throughout the day. For a lot of the girls, it was their first time playing futsal or soccer and it was impressive to see the skills that all the girls had.

Well done to all the teams!
