Welcome New Staff

Fabiano Nigro, Acting Assistant Principal

Hi everyone, I’m Mr. Fab, the new Acting Assistant Principal at Northcote High School.

I’ve worked at a number of schools and most recently I have been working as a Learning Specialist at Epping Secondary College where I have taught Food Technology, Italian, and VCE English. In my time in schools, I have been the:

  • Yr.7 and Yr. 8 Student Manager
  • Assessment and Reporting Leader
  • Head of Faculty (Italian and Food Technology)
  • MYLNS Capability Improvement Leader
  • High Ability Practice Leader
  • Pastoral Care Leader
  • Committee member for the Victorian Association of Teachers of Italian

I have studied in Italy and travelled around Europe – my favourite places being Florence, Santorini, and Berlin.

Parlo italiano e anche un po’ di tedesco, aber mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut jetzt.

At home you can normally find me in the garden and the kitchen or binging the latest series on Netflix.

Looking forward to working with and meeting you all 😊

Tom Russo

Hi everyone I'm Tom. I am teaching VCE Geography, and a number of other Humanities subjects. I have a passion for all things history/politics/geography and the humanities in general. I am a graduate from the University of Melbourne Masters of Teaching and have also worked there casually as a researcher in the Indigenous Studies Unit. In this role I worked on several projects including a major initiative helping teachers to integrate First Nations perspectives, histories, and cultures throughout their learning areas.

In a previous life I was fortunate to work full-time as a singer/songwriter/guitarist in a band. Thanks to this I was able to tour extensively, and have had the opportunity to visit 30-something countries and 100+ cities. While I still play music for fun, more recently my 3-year-old and 2-month-old have been keeping me busy closer to home!

In my (limited) spare time I like to cook and watch the Geelong Cats march towards back-to-back premierships.
