University Open Day excursion

Recently, I attended the University Open Day with Ms Hill, Ms Sophia, and classmates. It was the first time I had participated in such an activity. The opportunity to speak with tertiary consultants from universities all around Australia was a highlight for me, because it allowed me to get a better understanding of what life on campus is like and what academic and career opportunities are available. Overall, the Uni Open Day was a great success and left a positive impression on me. It was a great opportunity to get a feel for the university and see if it’s the right fit for me. It also enabled me to gain clarity on my personal goals and I feel more confident about my future pathway.

Our first Northcote High whole school assembly

On May 2, 2023, we held a general assembly for the entire school outside on Merri Park. We came for our connect lesson as usual and then went outside to the school field with our teacher, Ms Hill, to find our allocated space for the 10N students.

I particularly appreciated our 2022 school captain's speeches talking about their experience at Northcote and their tertiary pathway and how they were finding it.

Then current school captains introduced two scientists who are presently employed by NASA. They told us about their amazing experience with NASA and how they became involved.

Our Principal, Mr Jones, was asked to the stage and gave a fantastic speech. Our captains were then presented with their blazers and badges.

Beautiful music was also played for us by our school band. To end it, the scientists ultimately launched a rocket on the park.

We returned to class after posing for a class photograph on stage with the other members of our 10N group.
